PayPal is now giving the option of toping up your account using your Bank ac. I'm pretty sure you couldn't do this before (in Ireland).

Might be handy for the Christmas shopping, and a cheaper alternative to 3V.

Cheers for the heads up, that'll be handy.

Edit: just had a look at their system, it's merely a bank transfer to their account. Thought you could do it directly from your paypal account.
Can I do all this from my online AIB account?
I thought you could on do only transfers to another AIB account?

It's a bit of a mickey mouse operation all right. You do a credit transfer to Paypal's bank account, using your Paypal email address as payment reference. They then match this payment to your account, manually, and the funds become available for you to use. This process will take 3+ days for the bank transfer, then however long it takes someone in Paypal to match the money to your account.

The potential for problems is huge as it is not an automatic system at all. The email needs to be manually matched, so the possibility of mistakes is there. If your money does go to the wrong account, there's no knowing how long it will take to sort out.

I'd stick with the credit card or 3V, unless you're in no hurry, or completely desperate and have no other choice. You'll also have very little, or no, protection against fraud, when you use cash.

Did you use AIB online banking to send the payment? If so, could you briefly describe the steps involved as I am nearly there!

I would really appreciate it, thanks! :)

I set up my PTSB online banking to pay into PP. I've only used it once but it worked with no problems. As mentioned already, it does take a while.

It can be handy if you're selling and want to withdraw money but you have slightly less than €100. If you withdraw less than €100 at a time, PP charge you a euro but any withdraw over that amount is free. If you don't want to incur the €1 charge, you can top up your PP account then withdraw your balance afterwards.

I understand that you were enquiring about the funds that you have
transferred from your bank account to your PayPal account.

Upon carefully reviewing your account, I cannot see in your transactions
that you added funds from your bank to your PayPal account on the 23rd of
    February.

It is my pleasure to assist you. Thank you for choosing PayPal.

Not surprising really. Had similar experiences with other crowds and bank transfers. They swear they never got it , bank swear they sent it. I'd never send a bank transfer i couldn't afford to loose.

Has anyone managed to get their transfer refunded from Paypal if it goes missing?

I have a transfer floating around somewhere for 3 weeks now, its left my bank account, but never showed up in my paypal account. Im waiting to hear back from Paypal regarding it, but just wanted to know if anyone else has had success in getting their money refunded?
