Hi, sorry if this is repeating questions asked before, but I need some advice! I got a Nikon D50 2 years ago, only just getting around to using the manual features now, and found out that the lens isn't actually working properly - sliding out on its own, not focusing etc. I brought it into the shop in Cork where I got it, and they told me that it'd cost nearly as much to fix the lens as it would to get a new one. They recommended a nikkor 18-70 mm (second-hand) that they have in stock for €199. I'd love to hear some independent advice on this, as I'm completely techno stupid, and don't have a clue if this would be any good as my only lens. This is a link to the lens on sale, and if anyone could help without getting too technical it'd be brilliant! Thanks.

Forgot to say - €199 suits my budget at the moment, but I'd be willing to hang on and pay a bit more if anyone could recommend something good.

I'd expect to find it new on eBay for pretty close to that price tbh. Good lens though.

You can get a sigma 18-125mm for cheaper then then the nikkor 18-70. Good friend has the lens, fast and pin sharp at all focal lenghts. His normal lens. About 220 on warehouse express. Good lens
