2 days is grand - it'll provide enough of a sample that'll have you return again and again. Saturday for the old town, castle, dungeon etc. everything is pretty close together. Sunday to bring the lady shopping on and around prince's street. obligatory drinks friday & saturday night (sunday night dies a death so you won't miss anything). It's a great town, i mean come on, there's a castle on a big-ass cliff in the center of the place, i'll never get sick of that sight (especially at night), i can't recommend it enough, i'm heading back over tomorrow

Go for the extra day, it gives you much more time to enjoy the place at a slower pace

What time is the flight back Sunday, you do not want to be leaving town mid afternoon.

    great city

ya def stay the extra day, nothing worse than pelting it around a city trying to see things even though you havn't even gotten your bearings yet. Great city....never mind 3 days, i stayed 3months! do the bus tour, actually really good, edinburgh has some mad history you'd miss out on if you didn't do the tour....enjoy!

Agreed stay the extra night, Well worth it. You can take it at a much more relaxed and enjoyable pace while still getting loads in.

Yeah think I'd go for the three too. It's a cool place with lots to do, to see and enjoy. Some cool bars. Went to this nice bar on Rose st, some french name me thinks and club wise caberet voltaire was kicking or if you're keeping it cosy there's lovely restaurants too. Was a really nice Italian in Grassmarket. O and make sure you do the MacKenzie Poltergeist tour so you can grab onto your OH for the scary bits!:D
