I had a few one-nighter surgeries in the mater hospital earlier this year. The only food I ate was toast (when I was allowed eat, but that's because I was getting surgery on my vocal chords) and drank loads of water.

Apart from the obvious of what to bring (pjs, slippers etc etc), I brought books to read and a laptop full of films cos dear lord, it is boring hanging out in hospitals.

I got my stuff put in a locker by the nurse when I went for surgery so I didn't find that a problem.
