Under the SALE OF GOODS AND SUPPLY OF SERVICES ACT, 1980 the produce must be

    of merchantable quality
fit for its normal purpose, and reasonably durable
[*]as described, whether the description is part of the advertising or wrapping, on a label, or something said by the salesperson.
I've no idea what the difference between tanks are but you may be able to get your money back it it's not as the shop described.

The biggest difference in the two tanks is that a marine tank comes with a full spectrum lighting system while a freshwater tank doesn't (you'll normally have to sort the substrate and other systems seperately anyhow).
