Everyone seems to have an opinion on Tommo (commentator). He's a type of love or hate character, personally I always get the feeling he gets excited when I'm about to lose a bet. Funnily enough I think that's why people don't like him but in a way that's why I'll vote to love him!
There are only 2 options in the poll because I don't think anyone really has a middle ground. Just thought of a third so I'll stick that in..
What do you all think of his style, gaffes etc?

Do you love or hate Tommo? 11 votes

oh i wouldn't mind his tips.. it's his commentating style.. like the others too but I feel that it's very easy to connect your emotions with his tone.
yeah am loving the polls alright.. it's fun.

You gotta love his enthusiasm, it is unparalled (chapman is the only one who comes close)

I watched a rerun of a race commentary he did through thick fog at Southwell, he was gas. Would have loved to see how the others would have handled the same situation. Cant remember the horse involved so cant get a replay, if anyone can remember it, post it please!

I'd agree, if only there were more characters like him.

Ha Ha. I love my racing it's true. Amongst other jobs, I've done some stints as a full time gambler (will be going back to that soon), and do some writing work about racing for some websites and newspapers (as well as co-owning www.letsbet.ie ).

It's just the best sport ever if you ask me. Unlike other sports, racing fans put their money where their mouth is. You could argue about football or rugby or whatever all night long, but we put hard earned money on our opinions every day. Also, I think horses are special animals, and love their personalities. It's probably true to say it's become an obsession now. I also love stats and trends, so I invariably do a lot of research on racing and systems. 'tis all good though!

Hate is a strong word but I can't stand him.In my opinion he is too false. His commentaries, annoying as they are, are not the worst but it's when he is interviewing people asking really stupid questions that gets on my nerves.I no longer listen to him now as I just turn down the sound if he's interviewing somebody unless I really want to hear what they have to say.

He was covering Ascot once, and was interviewing the racegoers. There was a pile of ladies near him, and he wandered over. One or two of them were a tad overweight. He asks the ringleaders 'what do you do'? She replies they are all nurses. He casts a sceptical eye over the lot of them, and comments "ho ho ho, you com in all shapes and sizes, dont you"?

Political correctness probably not his strong point.
