...but dont know where to put my money, so many options. I'd rather put money towards a charity working in Africa or other 3rd world country so that narrows it down.

I like the idea of sponsoring a child abroad but cant remember which organizations do this.

Any ideas ? (I searched for a charity forum and couldnt find one)

Just write a large cheque and put it into an envelope marked "Africa." The postman will figure out the rest.

http://www.worldvision.ie/ could be one of the charities that you're thinking of.

Also, you could look at http://www.kiva.org

If you can read this, you're too close!

Oxfam maybe? AFAIK, they help people in third world countries support themselves rather than just giving them food and whatnot.

How much would you gladly accept today?
Say a figure but dont be greedy. I might just send it on!
If I think you are being a greedy lazy student you are getting nothing.

    Hello my dear friend.

I hope God Jesus funds you well in you healthy.

My name is Prince Bongo Bongo IV of the Undemocratic Republic of Jungleland. My father Bongo Bongo III was murdered by the nasty general Bingo (Moses put a plague on his house) and now my family and I are on the run.

My father left me $5 million in his will but i have no place to hide this money as the evil general Bingo (Buddha curse his black heart) wished to have this.

If you can send me your bank details and your donation (as a deposit, im sure you know in your wisdom) to me i will reward your kindness with £1 million.

    Thank you in advance.

    Praise god Allah.

    Your friend,

    Prince Bingo Bongo VI.

GOAL seem least top-heavy with admin and expensive flyers.

    I done this one http://www.samaritanspurse.ie/index.php

You basically get a shoebox fill it up with small gifts, wrap it up and send to the charity. We got the whole school to do it.

After reading "the state of Africa" by Martin Meredith i cancelled my oxfam monthly donations and will never throw my money down the blackhole that is Africa. I will however donate to a "assassination of current African leaders" fund. Doesnt seem to be one about.

Africa; A modern History by Guy Arnold is also very insightful.
