    Hi

My friend recently bought a 96 carina for a runaround. got it for 950 and there was only on e key with it.Now the key is coming loose from the fob part of it
problems starting it as presuming the fob part of the key is the immobiliser part.He went to a toyota garage and they told him that they dont make replacement keys anymore for carina.Could this be right or is there anywhere he could get a replacement made???

    any help greatly appreciated

You would be suprised at the amount of lock smiths that can cut car keys a copy the immobiliser. I can't imagine there are any specialists for carina keys. Just try your local locksmiths first.

Never used them so don't shoot the messenger! but I've saved the link as someone on here said they were good and reasonably priced:

I find it hard to believe that Toyota cant get a replacement key for it?

Most key cutting places will be able to cut a key that will open the doors and turn the ignition. So long as the part of the key containing the immobiliser chip is on the key ring with the key being used to start the car, I think it should work ok.

Did you check ebay. I dunno if these are compatible with your current key.

Saw this on Deal Extreme a while back it requires the original key but if it works it would be handy!
