Dole officer messed up my application

I signed on at the beginning of the month before moving to Scotland where i'm going to be starting a new job.

A few hours after I had been in with them (and queued for 2 hours), the dole officer rang me and said "sorry but I forgot to get you to sign another document, can you come back in?". I said I was going to Scotland the next morning but might be back the next week.

I haven't been able to come back since then, although I will be back in Ireland next weekend, but obviously the dole office doesn't open on weekends!

My question: What on earth could this form be? I signed the booklet style form, and I gave them my P45 etc.

Will I lose out on money I am entitled to because of this woman's f*ck up?

maybe Im being dumb but how are you eligable for the dole if you are not available for work? If you're not in the country then you cannot apply for jobs or attend interviews. I do know that people regularly get cut off because they are not available to attend interviews either with the SW or for jobs.
I would imagine that as you already made the application then you are alright.

Exactly and as a moderator of "work and jobs", you'd assume they'd know this.

Sorry sometimes I can be a bit slow and not fully understand things. But Ive just reread your post three times now. Please correct me if Im wrong.

But from what I gather you now work and live in Scotland.

Your trying to claim the dole in Ireland at the same time.

You belive your entitled to the dole even though no no longer live in Ireland

Is that right. Or have I just misread your post.

You are actually entitled to claim the dole from Ireland for 3 months after you move to another EU country. I'm also still tax resident in Ireland and will be until I start my job in Scotland.

"As moderator of work & jobs" I know this.

my bad. I didnt realise that you could do that as soon as you applied for the dole.

Ask them to post that form out to you, at least then you can sign it when you are here and post it back rather than trying to extend your stay to join a lovely queue for hours :)

You should have specified whether you had applied for JB or JA instead of using the generic term 'dole' and avoided the last few posts
"As moderator of work & jobs" you should know this :p

Also, will you have to sign on at the local SW equivalent office in Scotland?

    Sorry :-)

I won't have to sign on considering I haven't received any dole payments yet and i'm starting a new job next week.

IsThatSo - I take it they can't post the form out, as they have already written to me asking me to come in to them in person to sign it. I'm going to write to them and say I won't be able to come in to them til before Christmas.
