Well, there is talk of unearthing some old slides of my grandfather's, with a view to doing something with them - maybe going digital, maybe something else.

They are thought to be Agfachrome - can't be certain of this.

In any case, what is the likelihood that slides of this vintage will be usable?

High. I scanned a few old slides today from the mid 60s.

Scan them and put on flickr or pix.ie or wherever.

well, i'm 32, and my dad has slides taken from when i was one year old, and they're still in decent nick - depends on how well they were stored, for one.

My dad scanned a few slides 2 or 3 years back and they came out well (slides would have been 30 - 40 years old). As was said it'll probably depend on how they were stored though.

Touching them up can be great fun as well if there are any blemishes on them.

Great set. 1930's and Union Jacks hanging beside "Cead Mile failte"! Didn't expect to see that, shows to go.
The sense of pride and personal standards shines through, pity there's not enough money left in the pot for a "hoodies for suits" program :D

Agfachrome sucks so badly, everything goes blue.
