Hitachi 500GB 2.5" SATA or Western Digital 500GB 2.5" SATA

In an attempt to get the largest capacity 2.5” SATA hard drive into my HP DV6599EA notebook, I’m trying to work out which of the two hard drives on the DABS site is the better.

One is an Hitachi and the other is a Western Digital.

The Hitachi is thicker than usual at 12.5mm, thanks to them fitting a third platter, but my notebook is on the compatibility list, so that’s ok. Because of the extras, it weighs about 30g more than the WD. On the DABS site, there are only a few Euro between the two, the Hitachi being the more expensive one.

On the Komplett site, for some strange reason, there is a price difference between their identical offerings of 90 odd Euro, making the Hitachi about €100 more than on DABS.

Anyway, which of the pair would you folks pick?

    In order of importance:

    Compatibility
    capacity
    RPMs
    Read Speed
    Write Speed
Brand Reliability (Customer Service, review, etc)
    Price
    power consumption
    weight

Off the bat I'd lean toward Western Digital, having 2 passport drives in the house. But in the first link, the Hitachi looks very tempting.
