I am thinking about applying for the comp sci and software eng degree next september and would really appriciate any thoughts on the degree

My guidance teacher says you need to b very gud at maths..i am hoping to get an A1 in ol maths.

Will this be ok...will i survive??

I teach students on the maths side of that course in NUIM and you will need to do maths for two years. It goes beyond LC higher level maths difficulty so you should prepare yourself to be challenged. If you are of a standard in ordinary level you will probably get through the maths part of CSSE with a lot of hard work.

Once you go into 3rd year you stop doing Maths per say but you do use a lot of the maths you have 'learned' over the previous two year in the CS modules.

Also a lot of CSSE did pass Maths for the LC, like last year Dr. Dickinson did a survey of the class (over 300 students) about who did Honours and Ordinary Maths and she found that there wasn't any difference in the grades the students were getting in the assignments.

This is not true at all. Students who do OL maths for the LC are far more likely to struggle with maths in college. Whilst it's perfectly possible to pass the two years of CSSE maths without having done HL, let's not go misleading anybody about the difficulty of it.
