I used my 3 modem for a year on my mac, piece of **** but yeah it worked. You just need the drivers for osx.

Sorry but I can't remember where to download from.

I agree that it is a piece of poop. It is the only thing that can make my mac completely shut down when you are quitting from the app. And once it shuts you down, when you restart you have to reinstall the software.

I have the black piece of poop with the blue light and you simply open the disk and double click the app, it should install it automatically for you. OSX 4.11. Handy hint, when your mac crashes you have to remove the software and then you can install again.

As for whether or not it is any good, well, if it works it's ok, the problem is that sometimes it just doesn't work and it's like the network is jammed but you have a form of connection. It works 90% of the time for me. Also watch your download AND upload times, if you have to watch it carefully then keep a log file of your running total because when your mac crashes you lose the running total.

    Good luck, you'll need it..

ye i was told that if i plugged it in it should work automatically but all i get is "the disk you inserted is not readable by this computer" and according to 3's tech support that means i need the correct software.

Good luck with that. Incidentally keep in mind that these 3 modems suck your battery dry really quickly. Make a nice handwarmer when you unplug them afterwards though :)

Scroll down ZTE and download, try that software but you probably have to input the 3ireland settings yourself.

I have one of the white memory-stick type Huawei E169G's from Three (looks like the one Gordon's pictured above) for the last three months or so, and it comes with an application on it (it mounts as a USB flash drive/CD) called MobileConnect that works just fine on Leopard on my Macbook Pro. It registers as a modem, and will even work without the program. The one downside of the program is that it doesn't have the facility that the PC version of the driver does to receive text messages, which can be useful if you forget your password for my3.three.ie - for example, for when you want to put credit in it :)

As others have said, though, the network experiences lots of dropouts at present - I don't honestly think they've got enough capacity in some areas. I use it in the centre of Galway city (which isn't exactly remote as mobile networks go) and it's unreliable, frankly.

    Hope this helps,
    Gadget
