CAD Detail Request

Just an idea for a possible Sticky.

I've been looking through a few sites that offer downloadable construction details and CAD drawings/Blocks but I have noticed that the majority, if not all of these details were produced originally to meet building regs and requirements of the US. As we here in Ireland have different regs and vastly different construction methods, I thought that people who are seeking an Irish construction detail might be able to post here with a request. I know personally I have lots of blocks/drawings that I have drawn up that I'd only be too happy to share, and I will if I see someone requesting something I have.

    Now for the first request.
I'm looking for a construction detail, if anyone has one, of the eaves detail of a flat concrete roof with Grass top. The wall construction, and insulation method can be anything because it will be easy enough to make it suit. Anyone able to help.

P.S I hope people don't find this too restrictive to the construction segment of AutoCAD. I really think this could be used across all trades.

P.P.S all details would be preferably by PM for email details or in the form of a link to a site. If by PM and then Email can you post into the room that you sent a PM, and also what detail, so anybody requiring a similar detail in the future can request direct from the sender or recipient.

Concrete roof with grass covering is detailed on Knauf Insulation in the uk.
There standard section detail is a warm deck roof with single ply membrane.
Detail Gr01 might be a start for you.
Fast track have a number of cad drawings from a number of manufacturers.
Well worth a look! Roof, insulation, slates, windows, doors etc.

I've no problem swapping details if a simple mechanism can be found.

I've set up a private group to try this.

RKQ, you should have an invitation for this now.

Yea it's gone reallll quiet. Are there any details you would like to see RKQ.

I have a request. I'll post it in the users group as well as here.
I'd like to see a construction detail of a first floor cast in situ poured concrete floor complete with junction of the exterior wall below and above. Any takers?

wonder who'll be responsible if the detail fails? Professional opinions given freely are still professional opinions.

Anyone stupid enough to use anything other than an accredited detail is to blame.

Somehow I think the excuse, "Well the guy on t'internet said to do it like that" won't cut much cheese.

Anything requested, sought or given here should/is only meant as a visual guide, and as per all drawings for construction they should be modified accordingly to suit the requirements of the build.

I would put on a stronger proviso personally, the problem I see is where someone who is dabbling in CAD and self build, takes a detail supplied with good intentions from a qualified person. Not trying to be difficult here, just pointing this out so any issues are avoided, I would advise anyone posting to place a "not for construction" appended to any post.

Let me remind you of the initial request:
As we here in Ireland have different regs and vastly different construction methods, I thought that people who are seeking an Irish construction detail might be able to post here with a request.

Here the regulations, construction purposes nature and the Irish environment are all mentioned. If I as an architect, out of the goodness of my heart supplied a detail that was misapplied, or take Part L for example, that sufficed at time X but was used at time Y where no longer valid, I am sure that if such advice cost a certain type of person, they would race out to the courts to make me accountable for such a loss.
A judge would reasonably conclude that the ordinary man being given advice from a specialist professional should expect such advice to be sound, freely given or not.

That could be said for the vast majority of forums on boards. At the end of the day it's the responsibilty of the reader to interpret what applies to them. If what you say were the case the whole C&P forum would be a legal minefield. My original request was for something that I never intended to produce but was just eager to learn how it's done. More out of curiosity than anything else.

I'm no legal eagle but I don't think advice given over a forum boards has any legal standing. I know 1 person on boards, and I met him on a professional level offline, and I know he is qualified at his profession, but I wouldn't take any advice from him that I read on here outside of the meeting we had. His advice might help me decide what decision to make, but the decision is ultimately mine. There might be a different outlook legally, like I said I don't know, but common sense dictates to never take advice from a stranger on the net

It isn't too difficult at all. You'll start with pretty simple 2D stuff along with basic commands like draw, line, zoom etc and work along to blocks etc.

Don't be afraid to have a bash yourself.

Just wondering if you had any success in getting a detail for the Concrete flat roof. I'm looking for a detail showing how to insulate it. I'm an Arch Tech. in Cork.
