    feel sick.

Worked like a bollocks yesterday on a project, and come down this morning and see this. I have next to no real PC skills to be honest,so I'm stumped.

    Its an Abiword Doc.

How do I fix it, can I fix it even?
I have until next monday, but its looking like back to the drawing board.

    Cheers,
    D.

Have you tried uninstalling the Abiword itself and reinstalling it?

Backup the doc file itself in the meanwhile.
Is there an earlier back-up file that Abiword creates (like Word)?

Have you tried using Word to open/view it?
    See: http://www.abisource.com/help/en-US/howto/howtoword.html

Worst comes to the worst, try installing Abiword on another machine and copy over the file too you are trying to open and see can you get access that way!
