Does this phone number bring a flashback to you?
It popped into my head the other morning, and I kept on even humming the tune it went to!!

I'll reveal what it's from later, but if you know what it is, tick the poll.
Don't reveal the answer yet... just wondering if it brings the flashback to others! :D

Does the number 081 811 8181 bring any memory to you? 43 votes

    Was it not 0181 811 81 81?
Also brings back memories of London W12, 6LA!

EDIT: I remember calling that number and getting a very irrate answering machine message.

"The number you have dialled is NOT the
    BBC
. Please dial blah blah blah.."

I remember the postcode being W12 8QT in the mid eighties. Then it changed to W12 7RJ. Must have changed again then...

That phone number is familiar but cant recall exactly. Was it "Going Live" in the eighties??

Was it not 01-811-8011?? That was Swap Shop, whch was broadcast before they introduced 081 for outer London and 071 for inner London phone numbers in 1990.

That's the exact same thing that came instantly to mind for me when I saw the thread title. I'm almost certain it was 'Going Live' too. Either that or it's follow-up, 'Live & Kicking'.

Either way, I'm pretty sure it's one or the other as I remember it clearly being used around the same time I used to watch Saturday morning BBC programmes and that was mid-late 80's and into the early 90's, which would cover that 'Going Live/'Live & Kicking' era.

    You're too young.

EDIT: Apparently it was both: 8181 and 8055

Anyone remember those guys, Trevor and Simon on "Going Live". Thought they were great now that I'm thinking about it. or "Double Dare" with Simon Peter or Peter Simon or someone. +that Gopher...uuugghhhh.

Anyone remember those guys, Trevor and Simon on "Going Live". Thought they were great now that I'm thinking about it.

Yep, I remember them alright. My most vivid memory of them is the sketch they used to do where they ran a "celebrity laundrette". Who could forget that epic catchphrase................ "We don't do duvets!" :D

I also remember they used to dress up as a couple of folk singers (think Foster and Allen type of thing, complete with Aran-type jumpers!) from time to time but I don't remember much more of those sketches
or "Double Dare" with Simon Peter or Peter Simon or someone.

Peter Simon it was, indeed. And he always seemed to somehow end up in the gunge and slime himself at some point, didn't he? "Oooooh, look, I seem to have slipped accidentely!" Yeah right! Every bloody week is no accident, mate! :D

When 'Live & Kicking' arrived to replace 'Going Live' in the early 90's, I seem to recall that they replaced Peter Simon and 'Double Dare' with a new (well, I say "new" but the format seemed quite similar to me. Lots of running around collecting things and plenty of slime to get covered in!) game called 'Run The Risk' and Shane Ritchie was the presenter (I think! Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!). So, we went from one muppet in the form of Gordon The Gopher to another muppet in the form of Sha......... well, you can fill in the rest yourselves! :D

Says it all really. It was definitely Live and Kicking; I'm too young to remember this 'Going Live' thing :p

Wow, believe it or not that's the first number that came to mind for a search-by-number site just a minute ago. I knew exactly what it (and the jingle that went with it) was from - Go...ing, Go...ing, GOING LIVE! Little did I know back then that I'd end up still liking Philip Schofield into my late 20s, he's still every bit as lovely as he was back then :)

Indeed it was, later. They had a number change, and I never thought the extra digit sounded right!

OK, so who remembers WC2H 8PS, England? ;)

*Boy do I feel old :pac:

    It is what it's.

That may have been DJ Kat, or else TCC.
