Would exsisiting aib or boi shareholders stock be next to worthless if aib and boi are made to consolodate with the weaker banks or would the possible preference share buy be the main reason for dilution of exsisiting shareholders stock value?

Boi shares seem to be getting most upside and volume with bank share trading at present so i am thinking that with their possible il&p with ebs merger that they would probably come out better of this situation than aib who might be forced to take on anglo with their bad debt risk.

thats because of takeover rumours not the consolidation plan

Are we likely to see same fate with say aib and boi as when uk re-caped rbs and hbos e.g rbs traded in 170-240 range for few months before recap then after recap they are trading in 45-60 pence range? Will the dilution of exsisting aib-boi share values be soley the new discounted share offer price or will the new stock be a different entitiy which would be traded seperate from old shares.
