Did you hear any response to your first application.

They probably keep a rolling advertisement on the website. I'd imagine that their staff turnover could be fairly high.

Why don't you ring Domino's and ask to the status of your application.

You wont get a call back if your Irish im afraid:(. They figure that it's to much hassle to hire an Irish person who will want minimum wage as opposed to someone from another country who is more likely to work for 5 euro an hour.

Is that based on some insider knowledge or just an assumption made by yourself?

Tbh, posting up a cv on jobs.ie doesn't exactly show much initiative. Probably best to ring them, and get a contact to send in your cv.

While After Hours isn't the most reliable place for employment information,on this thread 3 or 4 posters claim delivery drivers don't make minimum wage

So yep, I'd agree that they won't hire Irish people insisting on minimum wage, too much hassle
It seems to be an American model, below minimum wage plus delivery charges & tips.
At least Dominos give you a bike so you're not paying for petrol, wear and tear and possibly commerical insurance.

I know my insurance company asks if I'm a courier or delivery driver, you don't want your insurance invalidated

Dominos dont hire Irish staff, I applied for a job there as a driver a while back and told my brother about it, he laughed and said i wont get a job there because im irish and i thought he was talking b*ll**** i called up a few days later and the (foreign) guy that answered told me that the job had been filled yesterday, several days after i had applied and i didnt even get a call ! Even though i have a full clean licence and have ecelent knowledge of the area seen as iv been living there the last 21 years!

I have since got a job in a petrol station and nearly every day people come in in the dominoes uniform to fill up, still havent come across an irish person yet!

You obviously don't know how many applications they get every day...

Recently I spoke to one of the lovely people in on of those agencies. At this moment they don't even have the time to reply to people who don't meet the requirements.

Sending an email is the same as just droping in a cv and your cover letter would be something like this:

    Hi,

Can I get a job to buy computer games and sweets. I love pizza and bunny rabits.

    Thanks.

    Tiny Tim.

ALWAYS follow up any email or letter you send. You say something like, "hi, my name is bla bla bla, I was looking to make some enquiries into an email (OR letter) I have sent in recently. Did you recieve it? Then proceed to tell them how you would like to work with them, if the position is still availabe and when you would hear from them if your application was to reach the next stage. Simple things like that might make all the differance :)

The illegality of it does not mean it doesn't happen. A lot of lower end jobs have managers who only recruit from their nationality just for cultural and language reasons. You see it all the time some shops are full of the same nationality. An Irish person applying for a job there would have no chance. It happens in reverse as well of course.

I'm not sure about the truth behind Dominos but the minimum wage and exploitation argument has some truth behind it.

If your CV matches the intelligence you show on Boards on a day to day basis then I'm not surprised really.

Also, this is dominos we're talking about ffs, if they're in your area then get off your ass and go down and speak to them, they probably have people dropping in CV's every day in person so why would they call you back? Take a walk into Maccy D's and Burger King, when I was 16 i walked into Burger King, had an interview right there and started work the next day.

Depends how you get paid. They're not going to pay you to sit on your ass for 30 minutes at a time, so they may pay by delivery. After calculating petrol, and also dividing what you got by the numbers of hours that you "worked", you may find that it's below the minimum wage.

    A. Jobs.ie screen all job applications. According to someone I know who works there, they reject roughly 50% of all applications. This means the employers can only see your CV if they log into their account and looked in the rejected pile. Most employers don't do this.

    B. It's possible you aren't suited for the job. Maybe they want someone with specific experience.

    C. They may want to keep the job online for as long as possible to get as many CVs as possible. This would be fairly normal employer behaviour.

    D. It could be an administrative error.

    E. Maybe your application got flagged by their spam software/went missing.

Solution: ring Dominos HR department and apply direct to them.

That's interesting what you say about the screening. I've been working on Jobs.ie for quite some time now and I've never seen any rejected pile. Plus we receive so many absolutely irrelevant applications that if there was any screening in place they'd surely be erased. Can you give any details on this? I'd be interested in seeing the rejected CVs.

OP, they have so many locations and such a turnover that they just keep these ads indefinitely as new CVs are always welcome. Follow your application up or forget it...

It's possible it has to be turned on for each employer. I don't think it is on for agencies. Do you work for an agency?

I do agree that it goes on. But dominos is a well established comnpany, when a person is hired they will have to send a starter form off to their head office with details etc. Head office will then put them on a contract and will pay the the minimum wage, no less.

They've no legal obligation to pay the minimum wage though.

You'd imagine that was the case alright and it should be that way but how then do most of the bike drivers talk about only making 5-6 an hour. Suppose it's possible that it's a sob story in the hope you give them a decent tip.

Ive had several Irish drivers (probably over 50%) deliver pizza from Dominos over the last few months. Must give up pizza

Yeah I was just thinking that we get a lot of Irish drivers from our various local pizza outlets (Apache, Dominos & Pizza hut)...

Are you serious? The minimum wage is set and a company must follow that. It is not a guidline.

Just contact them directly. No application I ever sent to Jobs.ie got anywhere. Then I applied to one of the companies directly and got the job.
