    Hi guys,

Im buying a new macbook for xmas, Ive always experimented with fruityloops and made some basic beats.

I want to get a keyboard, to hook up to the laptop and use as a synth.

what are my best options and how do they work, are there special ones? pplug and play? is there software available to recognise any instrument that can be plugged in?

    cheers

Most modern midi keyboards are plug and play via usb.
    (apart from some CME stuff)

Macbook is ideal for low latency portable soft synthing.

There's always a handful of second-hand midi boards on adverts.ie

I would personally recommend an M-Audio Axiom 49 to anyone looking for value and features. Also check out the AKAI MPK49 and Edirol PCR from Thomann or Musicstore.de.

Let us know how you get on.
