What would happen if everyone was converted?

This is in response to a certain thread on the atheism forum where converting atheists seems to be the goal.

So what would happen if everyone was converted to Islam/Christianity? (I picked both of these cause historically they have been very focused at times at converting people).

And this is a question that is mainly directed at Christians/Muslims that are always trying to convert people. Every person now believes in your God. So, what's next?:)

Uselessly vague question. It entirely depends on the breed of Christianity/Islam that takes over.

The world would be crappier, of course. Any more than that is flavouring.

.....planes falling out of the sky..clocks going backwards...computers crashing. The porn industry would either suffer or flourish..it's hard to tell. Oh and you'd never get a seat at sunday mass it'd be the real high point of the week and I'd have to stop watching House... lets not let it happen:o

It would have positive effects....we'd all stop getting spam through our door trying to get us to convert.

Hes your God too, you disowned Him maybe but he won't disown you. He is waiting for you to come back.

If everyone follows God then everyone will be saved but scripture indicates that the gate for those saved will be narrow with most going for the bigger gate.

Yeah, if history is anything to go by we'll find some less aggressive species and exterminate their culture to be replaced by our own.

Ok that's getting annoying, are you going to do that for every thread?

    Prove it.

    Prove it.

In fairness if he could prove there was a god this thread wouldn't be here.

If everyone follows God, and are saved, then what? What do people like you, who seem to want to convert non-believers, do then?

That's kind of the point... We shouldn't even need to debate this until he comes up with something.

Although Thaed, is it not a little hypocritical of a polytheist to demand proof from a monotheist? Have you such proof for your deities?

I chose to believe that if God exists, he'll understand why I didn't go in for the whole organised religion thing.

What? You mean if I get too successful at my job that I'll have to stop watching House?

He is waiting for you to come back.
Ive been waiting for his comeback, one great album and then nothing...

I think what would happen if everyone became one of the religions of the book is that more religious fighting would take place. People love separating themselves out into in and out groups. And when we cannot do it by atheist, Christian, Muslim anymore we would do it by "My type of Christian" and the other "heathen Christian*". A look at the history of what happens when one faith becomes completely dominant gives the likely consequences. Death to the undevout and an eventual split.

    * or muslim or possibly atheist.

Polytheists don't generally go around telling other people that theirs is the only 'right' way, and wanting them to convert.

When's the last time you were hassled to accept Odin into your life? :)

If he can't prove it then it comes down to his imaginary friends vs my imaginary friends and his one sucks cos it won't let him have more then 1, there for I have more and better imaginary friends then he does and I win :D
