Aldi have a range of wines for Christmas , any opinions on their Value-for-money and more importantly would you recommend any of them? http://www.aldi.ie/ie/html/product_range/productrange_wine_cellar_3182.htm
While I'm a fan of Aldi & Lidl quality , I have always been disappointed with their wines .

PS I found the German sweet wines "Beerenauslese and Eiswein" to be great last year , the Beerenauslese is less sweet and easier to appreciate for people unaccustomed to sweet wine.

Heres a posting from a similar query on last year- haven't really purchased many from either Aldi or lidl but looking at your link, a St Emilion for 13.99 is a bargain for Irish prices- you just won't find St Emilion at that price normally over here- Cotes du Rhone is a great everyday wine so again, prices appear better than other Irish supermarkets.

Try this link - it covers Aldi wines in the UK, but maybe some of them are the same?

Tried a bottle of Reserve Rioja last night (€5.90 I think) Very nice. Well worth a shot.

great sangre del toro in Lidl for €10 - always excellent and the lambrusco is a steal at under €3 for something sweet and sparkling at start of a meal
