Work in Canada - Summer 2009

    Just wondering if anyone has successfully gotten a Temporary Work Permit to spend the summer working in Canada?

    I know USIT run their "Work in Canada Programme" for a cost of €489, however I'm going to be on a J1 Visa (College Exchange) from Jan-June and will be entering Canada from the USA.

    I've contacted the Canadian High Commission in London, and they do provide Work Permits for something like this - but it sounds like quite a lengthy process to go about yourself.
    Has anyone been through this process before?
