Does it annoy you when you see news reporters reporting on the recession, how loadsa jobs are going to be lost in the coming year, how hard things will be etc. when both us and the reporter themselves know that they are unlikely to be affected by the recession!! Its like they're saying all this stuff but at the same time are thinking "at least I'm safe"!!!

Yeah, it annoys me, no one needs to know what's going on in the world.

Personally, I don't care who reads the news out, it could be Robert Mugabe for all I care, they're only reading.

Yeah the bastards. The cheek of them having a relatively secure job*

    * Journalists jobs are not secure at the moment, even if you think they are.

If their editor finds out there is actually no news then they will be laid off. :D

BTW there is a recession going on.

Bear in mind they have many many regional offices with different news desks and reporters for each region.

London alone has three different live news teams broadcasting to different parts of London.

yeah, they should quit in a sign of allegiance. Just like you, and everyone you know has. In fact we should all quit - that'll help the economy.

Or do what the Chzech Republic are doing(at least I think its that country). They are giving each person in the country €100 to spend within the country to stimulate the economy.

Im waiting for the voucher any day now from Cowen.

Well if your a reporter for the Irish Times today, you might not feel so safe...

I don't think anyone is safe from the recession. I know of one guy who was living an extraordinary lifestyle up to a year ago, had his 100K car repo'd just the other day, I'd say his company will go to the wall in the next few months. This guy was going around only a year ago acting like he was Bono!

But for the grace of God, there go I, that's my take on it...

    LOL!

Bono dies and goes to heaven, the pearly gates swing open, St. Peter brings him up to God, Bono looks at God, God looks at Bono..."Bono, have you anything to say to me?" "Yes" says Bono, "you're sitting in my fu*king chair"...

    :D:D:D

I disliked channel 4s treatment of the recession as a hollywood roller coaster ride. For example "brace yourselves tomorrow you, the public will be owners of the banks." I thought that was an extremely dumbed down statement.

why does news have to be so serious?
how is enda kenny more charismatic than all the newsreaders, weathermen, and most the reporters?
