COD WAW won't run

    Hi All,
I bought COD WaW a few days ago. I've installed it on my PC and it won't work at all. Screen briefly flashes black for a second or two and then I'm back in Windows again.
    My PC spec is:
    AMD Athlon64 3500+ 2.21Ghz processor
    2gb of RAM
    GeForce 8600 GT graphics Card
    Windows XP SP3

This spec PC would *appear* to be adequate to run the game, unless I am mistaken.
I have downloaded patch1.1 also and it doesn't make any difference.

    Anyone else having difficulty?
    Any tips?

    Cheers,

    Michael.

Have you installed a current DirectX9c?

Right click your cod shortcut and set it to run in 640x480 i think, or whatever resolution is there.

    Thanks for the suggestion.
I tried it (640x480) but unfortunately it doesn't work.

I also tested my pc here specifcally for this game
    http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/activision2?registration_option_id=7974
and it passed all the tests.

A bit puzzled to be honest.

I have the same problem, I tried everything and still doesn't work.

I can't figure out where I can set my sound to what you said Irishpimpdude since in sound whereever I look i can't choose the quality?

ok I've found thise on the activision.com/support website..I've done it and now it works

    For Windows XP:

    1. Right click on the my computer icon and select properties.
    2. Select the Hardware tab and click the Device Manager button.
    3. In the device manager go down to Sound, Video, and Game controllers and click the plus sign next to it.
    4. Look for any devices that reference a Modem or Unimodem sound device.
    5. Right-click on this device and select disable. This device should now be disabled.

Many thanks for that suggestion. It worked!
Finally got to play the game.!
However, it only loads up properly some of the time.
A good few times, it crashes while loading.

Another thing, when loading the levels, it takes a few minutes to load each level, and there is no symbol/graphic to indicate that it is loading anything, so it actually looks like it's frozen up with just a black screen! They badly need to release another patch!

    Thanks,

    Michael.

I had this problem with WaW when I first bought it.
It took me ages to find a solution but I eventaually came across one guy who had updated to the latest version of inCD and it worked for me too (although I guess this only applies if you have it installed already).
Can't hurt to give it a try

Hey Guys, my CoD WaW just will not get past the 'Eviction' level, every time it gets no futher than the first line of speech before it just stutters, then freezes (I have to Ctrl + Alt + Delete to get out).

I have read through some various forum threads (including this one)
I have tried putting my resoulution down to 800x600
    I have reinstalled
I have got the latest DirectX and patch (1.4)
I have updated my graphics card and attempted to update my sound card but it was at the most recent level

The only thing I haven't done is change my sound settings to something lower, and that is because i can't work out how, i go to control panel, then sounds, speech and audio devices, then I can't just GO to properties, it isn't an option from that menu.

I think there is about an 80% chance it IS my sound, but could someone please help me!
    thanks
    Chazo :)

hey I had the same problem and i did THIS:
    1. I had to change the audio to 24 bit and 48000 in the: control panel, sound , properties, advanced, then apply. ( I copied this from Irishpimpdude in a comentry above):D

    2. I got this from my brother that then you start the game the FIRST time DON´T press new game, select MISSION SELECT and then Semper Fi

    3. if you selected "new game" reinstall the game and select "misson select"

    4. Have FUN and enjoy
