    Hi people,
So im doing a busking gig in a couple of weeks for a news paper that i probably cant mention for fear of getting a ban!Anyway its to promote a free thin lizzy c.d they will be giving away so i have to do two shifts each 4hours or so of thin lizzy songs. So most likely an hour worth of stuff to repeat.Yup just me and my acoustic and my voice! So id reallly appreciate if anybody could give me some suggestions as to what songs would sound good acousticly and maybe link me to some tabs or suggest how i might make certain songs work in this setting(grafton street!)Thanks a million!

Yeah you can name any newspaper without fear of being banned. What's the CD anyway?

There's a load of Lizzy songs that would sound good acoustically

    King's Revenge
    Southbound
    Rosalie
    Romeo and the Lonely girl
    Cowboy song
    Downtown Sundown
    etc, etc

I suppose if you're busking on grafton you are going to want to do a few of their most popular ones: Whiskey, Dancing, Emerald, jailbreak, boys are back etc. Realistically though, you could get nearly all of their songs to work acoustically if you tried hard enough and were a bit creative.

For a start you're obviously going to have to drop most of the guitar solos, that's the best I can give you, you'll have to work the rest out yourself.

    Good luck ;)

Umm, just a few off the top of my head . . .

    Running Back
Things aint working out (Down at the farm)
    Slow Blues
    Wild One
    Rockey
    Dublin
    Eire

The last two may not be the best for a street gig but UI said I'd throw 'em in anyway.

    Best of luck

Sarah since it's already acoustic, check out the early stuff from the Eric Bell years(first 3 albums) a lot of that stuff is slow/acoustic, more blues oriented. If you take live+dangerous most of the stuff on that would sound good acoustic - jailbreak, emerald, southbound, cowboy song, boys are back in town, suicide. The other live album life would have the sun goes down that I think would sound great acoustic. Some of Phil's solo stuff - Old town would be a Dub favorite.

Depending on how good a guitar player you are you could chance black rose.

If you're looking for tabs there is an official lizzy tab available, I last saw it in Goodwins on Capel street for about 30 quid or check 911tabs.com. Bit hit and miss but if you can fill in the gaps it's not bad.

Don't know what to tell you, it's been years since I've played that song but I don't remember it being difficult.

I've got no idea if we can link to tabs or not but here's one that looks decent, just learn the verses and chorus and work the intro out yourself so it'll sound fuller on an acoustic.
