Can anyone tell me the purpose of adjustable objective lenses? Got a Nikko last week and zeroed at 25m, moved out to 60m and the bullet strike moved about 3 inches to the right. I rezeroed for windage at 60m and moved back to 25m - Guess What? the bullet strike had moved to the left. I have countered all this by setting…

I have countered all this by setting the lens to 60m where I do most of my shooting and only using the lower magnifications at closer ranges where high x powers are not needed. This seems to work.

Is it the usual or did I buy a crock?

They are used to counter parallax error afaik

I personally prefer the side focus design.

With the adjustable objective, I find if the rifle encounters a small bit of grit or dust the adjustable objective then becomes like a pepper grinder when twisting it. I also find when prone it is quite difficult to reach forward and twist the objective.
