Never find what I'm looking for, so I'll put an offered ad instead.

Multi-instrumentalist/singer/songwriter is in his winter of discontent and is interested in looking for a new band. I have a powerful tenor voice, have written around 170 songs, play lead guitar, bass(slap style) & drums to a very high level and mess around on piano/keys and mandolin.

Open to all comers save: Sh*tty indie pop bands/country & western bands/fans of U2 or Oasis.

I'm 30 and ideally looking for a Dublin band, covers or originals

    Rob

you could always be a one man show...

Pre-record some instruments and then play something live & sing? :)

(completely understand your frustration.... i'm still at that stage of looking for things i cant quite find...:()

Well I do acoustic gigs sometimes, but I'm more in love with the band scenario, having other people to bounce off and improvise with, ta for the suggestion though :D

Yet you write off U2 and Oasis, arguably 2 of the biggest acts of the last 2 decades. Seems a bit contradictory tbh.

'Course, but why rule out fans of two very popular bands as well as "sh*tty indie pop bands" which pretty much strikes out every decent song of the last 10+ years.

No point in lying to people, I have no interest in sounding like any of those bands, and because they are two of the biggest bands, doesn't mean they deserved to be, cholera was big once too remember

i completly agree , just because there big doesnt mean everyone will like them , plus playn music that would sound like them would be horible to a musician who didnt like them , its like sayn metalica or iron madien if your not into doing a metal band, there just difernt styles that dont apeal to him.

What kind of bands are you into? It's just that you mentioned you're a singer-songwriter and people mean very different things when use this term-
what kind of music do you wish to make?

I resisted putting down my influences as I'm hella-eclectic in my musical tastes, I love classical (and all genres therein), Jazz, blues, soul, funk, alt. funk, rock n roll, hard rock, alt. rock, quite a lot of metal (not death or black), folk, some country, acoustic singer/songwritery material, most listened to bands are anywhere from Zeppelin to Primus, Beatles to Sepultura, Soundgarden to Elmore James, Sammy Davis Jr to the Small Faces.

I'd prefer people to come to me and say "we do this:..." and I will give you an honest answer as to whether it turns me on or not... Can't say fairer than that, I'm very open to most styles,

I have some originals on myspace from a band I was in last year, it hard rock styled,
