Is it possible to disable the red activity light on the bottom right of the large dial at the rear of the camera? It messed up some night shots I took a while back and i'd be nice to get rid of it.

    thanks.

Yeah Gaffer tape is light proof

Suppose that is one way all right :P but wouldnt it leave sticky gunk on it though?

not if you put the right grade of tape on it... you're only looking to use it as a cover for the light, not hold the camera together.

Thanks Chochese and one more question, is there any particular sort of black tape I should be looking for? My knowledge in the areas of tape is somewhat limited :p

A bit of black electrical tape should do, you know the plasticy stuff? I hardly think myself an authority on tape though :P

Gaffer tape comes off clean, even after a couple of months I think, and you'd only have it on for a couple of hours tops. I've taped gobo's to my flash using it for a few hours and it's come off with no residue.

    Thanks I'll give that a go :D

Where's the light reflecting to? If it's the eyepiece, there's a little rubber square on your shoulder strap that's designed to replace the rubber surround of the eyepiece to block out any ancillary light when taking night/long exposures/etc.

In this case it was reflecting off something behind me which in turn was reflected off a window in front of the camera. You can see it here in the bottom right of the image below.

That's a lovely picture! Mind if I ask what sort of aperture and exposure settings you used?
