where is the best place to upload my pictures where I can also edit them? Im not keen on Picassa tbh, and have heard of flickr but not sure what it can do for me and if its free. -No point in paying for something which might not suit me!!
Im on the site now, but its not very clear. Im just going to try it and see what happens, but feel free to suggest sites that can work with me - a beginner:P:D

Id say flickr, its free and you have 100mb a month, its not 500mb but if your starting out its fine! Although looking at pix.ie now it looks pretty nice.

    Network with your people: https://www.builtinireland.ie/

Op wants to edit photos online though, which leaves flickr, unless I've missed something you can't edit via pix?

In terms of storage - i'm firmly in the pix.ie camp, 500MB per month is the transfer allowance. I could be wrong but i think as the service is in beta that there is no limit to what you can store (talk of a paid service model next year so this may alter the free v paid offerings ).

Flickr if i'm not mistaken is 100MB in total for the free account? It doesn't reset one month later. Flickr has the user traffic and consequently potentially better exposure (if you are a picture pimp!). I'm guessing that pix.ie wouldn't compare (marcus?) but it depends on what you are after.

Flickr for groups, pix.ie for storage.

Personally, i prefer the pix.ie interface. Tis a beta so lots of features still needed on it but still it has all the basics.

Re: editing neither flickr or pix.ie offers direct editing. Flickr does integrate with some online services like 'picnic' but picnic will also allow you load your images from pix.ie direct via url.

Not sure that online editing is mature enough yet if you are hoping for photoshop or gimp level product, but it can do the basics and a number of presets.

EDIT: Flickr's editing is the integrated picnic product mentioned above and is pretty seamless.

Ive tried editing in Flickr but its obviousely been Jpegs, just to learn the ropes. I will load Pix.ie as well, and try using gimp which someone else told me about to edit. Thanks a mil for the tips everyone!!

The Gimp takes a bit of getting used to ! It is incredibly powerful though so long as you are prepared to learn and give it some time. Try http://www.meetthegimp.org for some tutorials and a video podcast to amuse yourself. If you need to do RAW processing then UFRaw is the best available option. Again all this assumes you are hoping for something free/open source.

    Good luck.
