    Return to Kerry May 2009

Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Triumph Herald

Back in 1959 Standard Triumph brought journalist from all over the world to Kerry to try the new Herald. While they were there Triumph made a special promotional film in conjunction with the Irish Tourist Board (Bord Failte) and Aer Lingus called Return to Kerry.

To mark the 50th anniversary of the Herald Triumph enthuiasts all over the world are being invited to go back to Kerry for this special weekend event which includes a special dinner at the very hotel used by Triumph themselves ion 1959, the Great Southern Hotel, Parknasilla. As part of the entertainment that night there will be a special showing of the film Return to Kerry. The next day there will be a special car run covering many of the Ring of Kerry locations shown in the film.
A great social event, beautiful countryside and the chance to step back in time to when the Herald was launched.

    Sounds interesting.
I have good memories of a Herald my Dad had during the 70's which I am guessing was a 61 (HZC *** was the reg), grey with a maroon stripe. It suffered from rust but other than that gave no difficulties. He sold it to someone from Shankill in about 1980 when he replaced it with a Rover 2000TC
