Out of curiosity, which ones are impossible to brush off?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 592 ✭✭✭Corcaigh84

In fairness, when we see the sun, moon and stars, we see light that has travelled extremely long distances, and is then distorted by our atmosphere, and then again by whatever cheapy lens it happens to be captured on.

And yes, clouds sometimes form weird shapes that remind us of familiar things!

Nothing to see here, move along...

When you see them with your own eyes?

Most. Would like to see your explanations.

    Fair enough.

    1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGCRBrV0f2s
Apart from simply being a bad video, the people in the car are driving beside telephone lines. The sun light looks like it's flicker as the cables pass in front of it.

I've no idea what this is. It's just a load of photos.

    Clouds

    Parahelic circle
    2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5VUTNLI4Uo&feature=related
A funny looking cloud, or possible proof that Gandalg the White is coming.
    3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvSHGx1ZO50&feature=related
    An approaching storm.
    4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGXwkv0N3uM&feature=related
A fancy cloud that looks like a sword, or possibly a dragon breathing fire, or possibly a million different things depending on how you look at it.
    5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hv6EZlWeiF8&feature=related
This one actually looks pretty cool. But to me it seems that it's smoke from a chimney with light from the right hand side of the screen refracting off it. Or, and this seems more likely, it's a light reflecting on the window in front of him and he's positioned the camera so that it's above the house a head of him.
    6. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuVCZ07UdM8&feature=related
A cloud that looks like a Klingon Bird Of Prey flying to the right.
    7. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkTSp-rZnPE&feature=related
Here's another one that looks really cool. But it looks light a ray of sun light breaking through the clouds. The colours are the light refracting off the water particles in the cloud. Same as in a rainbow.

    Moon
    1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5h_qoHCn7k
Some facts about the sun, Earth and moon?
    2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCEbLPMfaoM
A shot of the moon in either the morning or evening as the sun is setting.
    3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdO_tqP_Rwk&feature=related - Dublin
Someone holding the white balance on a video camera. You'll note that as the moon changes colour, so do all the lights. The camera is trying to define the value of white, but is struggling because of all the light sources.
    4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ff1xZNddQIE&feature=related
Another cool shot. Looks to me like the sun being distorted by somethign, possilbly heat rising, in the same way you may see it if you ever see footage of the sun rising or setting in Africa on a hot day. But this one I actually don't know about.
    5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3un84Vvyys - Dancing Moon
Ah come on! The actual description is the reflection of the moon on a river...

    Stars
    1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YW4E_Ak19x0
I'm no astronomer, but the comments on that page seem to say it's Saturn. Personally, it looks like a speck of white. I'm not sure what the people in the video are refering to or what I should be seeing.
    2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jf8M-mQNBe8&feature=related - Dancing Stars
Looks like a planet and some shaky camerawork.
    3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnQL80Df0dM&feature=related
I just see what looks like a star with lense flair.
    4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHzsQInaF14
And another that I'm not sure what I'm meant to be looking at. The video mentions orange lights. This could be pollution distorting light or it could be lights on hills surrounding the area. Who knows without more info.

And all that's from a casual glance at the videos. Imagine what someone smart and actually at the locations could tell you. :)

This might be a dumb question... but what about when the sun has no glare off it, I mean when you can look straight at it without shielding your eyes? How is that possible?

Yes, you can look straight at it. Also, the eucharist goes in front of the sun.

It is certainly supernatural but some people say that its demons abusing Mary's image but once I saw it I felt like saying sorry to God and I just wanted to serve God. How could a demon bring such emotion I wonder?

I hope God can help me make sense of it for it confuses me greatly.

Which ones are impossible to explain? I've looked at a few and nothing amazing.

A question though, how come astronomers don't report this like ever? I would imagine that the sheer amount (both professional and amateur) plus the fact that they look at the sky more than most would mean they'd see lots of this? Could it be that due to proper training they're able to recognise what the atmospheric distortions or whatever actually are?

The fact that science cannot explain it means that it is supernatural. Astromeners only see the scientific, not the supernatural.

I imagine they'd definitely see the Sun/Moon/Stars dancing around the sky same as everyone else if it were happening.

Which of the videos are inexplicable?

Well to me, the videos of the sun dancing for I saw this myself so it is not a camera trick. Lets hope and pray to God that these signs come from God and not the Evil One.

I really don't think that video cuts it at all.

What makes you think it's not aliens, for example, behind it?

    Sorry Fanny.

This all just seems a bit mental if you don't mind me saying!

I'm thinking a few people have spent too long in the sun.

To be honest Im not sure that any of the signs apart from dancing sun are messages. I take the Dancing Sun to be miraculous since there is no scientific explanation and the fact it makes the sign of the Holy Trinity and the Eucharist confirms its supernatural, either directly or via nature.

The other signs can all be explained I think, mostly down to different weather conditions.

    A dancing sun. Ok.

    You make my brain sore.

Tell me, was tuberculosis supernatural before we developed germ theory? Were the motions of the planets supernatural before we understood gravity? For that matter was "falling over" supernatural before then?

The unexplained is merely unexplained. Science encompasses all that we can observe and model. The supernatural is a myth, a hand-waving vagary invented to fill in the gaps before we realised that science was the way. There is only the observable and the unobservable. Both are natural.

Nothing you've listed is going to make anyone with a little rational imagination lose any sleep.

I'm confused, can the astronomers not see these phenomena you've described? When they open the YouTube links do they just get a blank screen?

I get the feeling that you really, really want some awesome biblical stuff to happen in your lifetime. Maybe you're bored or feeling meaningless, I don't know. Isn't there enough crazy stuff happening in the world without the need to search for a grand plan in it all?
