Hello, sorry for asking for help with PBL but I can't find an answer for this anywhere...

Does anyone know what it means to 'red spot' an x ray of a potential fracture?

    Thank you :)

It comes from the practice where radiographers put a small red sticky on the hard copy of an X ray if they thought there was a fracture or other problem. Personally was a lifesaver when I worked in AE (6 months SHO and years as a part time PCP (glorified staff grade !))

Yep, we red dot stuff if we see anything unusual on an image.

Not all hospitals practice is, it's much more prevalent in the UK but it's steadily coming in here and there are more and more study days.

I saw a case where the radiographer picked up a case of cancer in a patient the SHO missed so it's a great system.

Ah there's loads coming up for 'red dot radiology', thanks traumadoc :)

We had to look up the role of radiographers too. I knew you guys are very overworked but didn't realise quite how much there is to the job.

Really appreciate those replies, thank you :)
