I'd love to know why that happened though. It was exactly this time last night the record was broken, yet there are almost 1,000 less visitors on the site at the moment...

Weird stuff causes that at time. For months after 9/11 it was our biggest day by far, I think it took almost a year and a half to break that record. Often when something big happens we get a bump. Hard to judge but it could be something like the Munster game keeping users who would usually hang around for 15 minute here for 80 mins instead, even a couple of hundred fans doing that could make 1k concurrent users difference over the span of a game etc... (just an example).

Remember, thats the *concurrent* user count. On average we roll all of those over every 16 minutes (afaicr).

thats pretty interesting. Whilst I knew thats how the 'tally' worked, i never really thought about it, until you said it.

I think we all underestimated how serious the fallout would be if the irish were denied their sausage and rashers. Oh sure, the Water sanitation has been a constant issue in the last few years, but this pork thing is SERIOUS.

While we are here we have already hit userID 200,000 however actual numbers of boards users is currently nearly at 196,000. This will mean that there will be 200,000 users in roughly one month, my money is on January29th @15:10.

Cloud or DeV (I think) made a post a few months ago about that figure, you may need to search their posts though for the info, however check this link for some statporn.

I think Moores law was broken after 65nm

It doen't hold anymore, so we'll have to call the growth curve devore's law or something.

(sounds too much like divorce law).

It the recession and people in Banta /Dell etc getting made redundant.

    Just noticed this now:
Most users ever online was 5,953, 20-09-2009 at 21:31.

Aside, I've noticed that Sundays between 8pm and 11.59pm* seems to be the time most people are online in general. Seems to be taking over from Mon/Tues at lunchtime?

    * just because if I said 12, I'd have to change the day and it would be messy.
