Interview without a context?

    Hi folks,

I've been on the job hunting trail this last month and after a day of furious bulk mailouts pimping my Cv and CV website I got a phone call from the director of a very well known PR firm requesting I drop by tomorrow for a chat.

Obviously I was too in shock and agast that this could happen to ask him what position we were going to talk about so I'm in the dark. Ignorance leads to fear and fear is the ruination of a good interview.

Accordingly my strategy has been to do the following:
    • Researched the company's activities and employees
    • Reviewed any interactions I've had with the company in the past and with whom
    • Memorised a list of questions for the position when and if it is revealed
    • Memorised my CV to the letter

Anybody got any nice tips for a situation such as this? If I land a job here it will be a top notch Christmas!

It will more than likely be a role closely linked to what you've been doing recently.

It sounds like you're on the right tracks with your preparation. Do spend some time thinking about your own strengths, weaknesses, achievements and (importantly) examples of when things haven't gone to plan.

Did you look at the company website to see if there are any jobs posted there? Might give you some clues.. :)

    Best of luck!

memorised your cv? for me those days are gone, i review it, make sure i have a story for each detail and then bring it into the interview with me for reference!

You are quite correct and that is what I meant. No point regurgatating the document they have already studied.
