MOTU 828MKII USB

I got an 828MKII USB from Thomann about 6 months back. Loved the unit but I seemed to always have audio drop out issues with it. At the time Firewire wasn't an option or I'd have gotten the firewire interface.
The problem is that audio just drops out with a single pop without any warning randomly for up to 20 seconds. It may happen once in a 4 hours session or it may happen multiple times, there doesn't seem to be a pattern. It can happen at nearly Idle CPU and on plain audio files just being played with Winamp or Windows media player..
It was tested on my Quad Core, a dual core , a laptop and an older P4 3Ghz machine using the latest MOTU drivers but still did the same regardless of system.

I sent a very detailed email with the unit when I sent it back to Thomann for "Repair" but they've come back to me and said after hours of testing , they cannot replicate the fault..

I'm obviously not happy as I know it's there & it's a real piss off to have workflow interrupted in that manner..

I wonder if any one has one of these, if they could suggest me try anything to solve this. So far I've tried numerous USB 2.0 leads, have my base unit and MOTU on a decent size UPS, made sure the USB ports weren't overloaded with gear, monitored the CPU & memory usage, made sure the correct drivers were installed.

I have a backup EMU internal card in the meantime but I essentially want the MOTU up and running properly..

Deal with MOTU support directly. It is the most efficient way I've found.

Amazing.. I got the unit back from Thomann today.. Packaging damaged grrrr..

But have had it plugged in all day, set the clock speed to 96Khz and just been playing random **** back through it all day while sat in work.. No drop outs ever.. Engineers there said there was absolutely nothing wrong with it.. Really?!.. I must have been getting Random deafness.. must see a doc.

I wonder though.. Is that before they upgraded the Firmware to V1.01 instead of the 1.00 that was on it.. & how come the hardware rev is gone up .01 as well..

Oh well seems to be fixed now thankfully.. But I registered it with MOTU and stand by on the support page with bated breath!
