I'd prefer Saturday afternoon. Definitely can't do the 4th as it turns out - little one's officially becoming a scout (ahhhhh...).

Afternoon better for me too as I have to head to top gear thingy at about 6.30 but i can pop back after for drinks :D (if there happening?)

I might be able to make the 6th, definitely can't get up from Sligo for either of the other two dates.

That said, I think the earlier the better, and judging by how long processing and delivery is taking from Blurb (at least with regular delivery) if we are promoting this thing as an ideal Christmas (solstice for ThOnda:)) pressie, even the 29th may be too late!

Being awkward I know, but Thurs 4th is about the only evening I can't make it!

So either Saturday, or any other day in between and I can get there.

The 29th or the 6th is good for me. If it's the 29th I could be in the same boat as Sinead as I could have my son with me as my better half and daughter could be heading to Wexford for the weekend.

Does anybody want to take the helm at organising this? finding a venue, liasing with them regarding numbers. It's not a whole lot of work tbh, somebody pls?

Anybody know of a suitable venue? I was thinking the Duke on Duke St (just off Grafton St) as they have bit of space upstairs. anybody got a friend who owns/manages a city centre pub?

I've asked a pub near Smithfield, and they're willing to give us pretty much the whole place on the afternoon of the 6th, and will throw in free sandwiches given that it's for charity. I'll PM Th0nda and Ideo with details and let them make the call.

I have a flight to catch up late afternoon on the 6th Dec and be gone for a month then, so would prefer any other date earlier than that. I can do a little bit of help during the launch if needed.

It's a condition on receiving your book that you pose for 33 photos first. Each photographer will stamp your card, and when your card is full you may collect your book.

Sandwiches require that you've collected 50 stamps.

I realise that the 29th is leading the way at the moment, but one question - are we sure we'd have the books by then? With a little bit of eyelash batting I reckon I can change the pub date easily enough, but a launch without any actual books could be awkard!

Good point, I ordered mine on November 3rd, got an email telling me it had dispatched on the 12th and it's now the 19th and still no sign of it. This was with the standard (free thanks to Ruu) delivery.

What date did the DDG order go in and with which delivery option?

mine was shipped on the 11th and i got it today so 7 working days, that could be an indication for the DDG

DDG shipped yesterday and was ordered with priority post which should take 2 - 4 days according to the website

EDIT: just checked the UPS website there and the estimated delivery time is Friday, Nov 21st! So, if the 29th, next Sat is chosen, then we should be good to go

Well, the poll is open till 10am tomorrow. Barring large numbers of people suddenly voting over night, shall I go ahead and tell the pub to expect about 20 people then? Should I say 25 to take into account whatever press are coming too?

I'd hope there'd be more than that. I'll probably have a few tagging along anyway. At least one. And I'd say a lot of people who voted for a different preference will make it anyway?

Good point - I'll have 2-5 hangers on as well. I'll stick with the 40-50 then?

yep think so :) The guy from costumeshop.ie (who is kindly donating beards for the day - see - I'm plugging you:) ) suggested we publicise the event on a new charity station that's launching on the 28th - see if we can get some extra heads in/interest.. I'd say 50ish though. Sure I'm sure they won't mind if there are more people than expected ordering drinks :)

Well, the numbers are really only for the sandwiches. I like the owner, and don't want her to go to the trouble of making sandwiches for 50 if only 20 turn up :S

So, given how close the poll was, is everyone happy to go for the 29th, 4pm, Smithfield area of Dublin? Once I have confirmation to go ahead with the booking, I'll sort everything out and post details.

Have a great time on the 29th. I'll hold my own little official North West launch party in Sligo and toast you all!

I think one of the ballot sheets that appeared to say November 29th, was, in fact, not marked properly, and, uh, therefore I grant this State of Florida launch date to December.

Squee - the DDG delivery has arrived! I've got two giant heavy boxes in my hands right now (I'm typing with my nose, and my back is breaking). I opened one box and took 1 copy out to check, and they're fab. I'm so excited!

You could send an email to dublin@q102.ie - they have an event announcement section throughout the day. They require 7 days notice so will need to be done asap.
