Myself and my partner have been trying for a baby for the last year

I done a pregnancy test last night and it came up negative, so i put it in the bin. before going to bed, i took it out and re-checked it. It had changed to positive, this was about 2 hours later.

So i decided to do a second test first thing this morning and it was negative with changes. so on my way to work i bought another early response test (i am 4 days overdue), this has also come back negative.

Has anyone else experienced this, a test changing over a couple of hours to a different result?

Yes, I have a friend who had this happen, the real result is the one you get after a few minutes, any changes which occur afterwards should be disregarded. This information should be inculded in the pregnancy test you bought.

Its very possible to get a false negative though, sometimes the hormone is not high enough, but it doubles every day after dpo14 so I suggest go to the Doc and get his test if you want to be sure!

Dont send yourself mad examining the home tests!

    Good luck!

Pregnancy tests are only wrong when they give you a false negative. Without pregnancy hormones the test cannot give you a positive result.

all pregnancy tests are like that. it says in the leaflet given with the tests that any result after 10mins should be disregarded. the real result will show up on the time given in the leaflet.

good luck with the baby makingness!!! :)

This happened to my wife last week. She got 2 positive results and 2 negative. Unfortunately she got her period a couple of days later so no pregancy but apparently the hormone HCG can de detected at similar levels prior to a period as it would be during a positive pregancy. Anyway i believe that the fact its present is a positive thing. Hope that helps!
