how about you post up a couple of the common spots you get into and look for critique. this costs alot less and may be more beneficial as you get many views.

Poker is about losing, everything. How do I know? Well lets see, winners are people who haven't lost yet. I haven't lost since I last played in 1993. Troll? No, just aware that a lot of people get totally addicted to this, lose everything and of course there is no front page headline.

Why would you think it annoyed me? As to my having nothing better to do, how would you assertain that? You seem to be having a reality bypass.

Why wouldn't I be either A level, a level or as I think you mean, on the level.
I have seen it all and have not got a streak in me that's nasty enough to pretend other than what I know to be life wreckingly true.

    Two top quality sentences there.

The second, more self important one, is the better though. It's funnier and has the added bonus of either being a great level or make you look kind of sad. Either way it's full of win

I'm not really worried about how you want to or are able to read it, all Im doing is saying it, I have no real control over how you wish or need to recieve it. The "sad" bit demonstrates a certain sadness.

    How so?

By the way I can read it fine; it's just a very confused piece of writing.

That doesn't work either but I think that's beside any point you may think you have about the disputable but not proveably incorrect statements that I've made.
unpalletable truths are not necessarily designed to to be appreciated the moment they are made. Your attempt to undermine what I say proves more than I realised at first. Thank you.

I await your next attempt with an unconcealably high optimism.

OK to be fair half of my scepticism about your posts is because I am a spelling and grammar geek and your posts are so messed up in their structure that it just gets my back up before I get to your point.

Your "hard truths" are no revelation in this forum. Everyone here knows that the vast majority of poker players are losing players. The OP asked if any of the winning players (and there are some serious winning SnG players on this forum who know what they are talking about) would take a look at his HH's and give him some advice so that he might leave the masses of losing players and become one of the winners.

Whilst I am sure your point has merit* I think you are being overly dramatic and too set in your opinion. Yes, there are many losers in this game but with some good advice, some hard work and some practise I am sure the OP can become a winner.

Hope I lived up to your expectations.

*I don't disagree in principle that if you are a losing player the quickest way to change that is to stop playing.

There is ultimately only one kind of player. How you regard my writing is of interest, to you.

OP, read strategy posts here or twoplustwo, post tough situations you get in frequently where you genuinely don't know what to do
NOT "i had two kings he had two aces so i loosed the hand shud i of folded"!

twinks, i'm sure there's a philosophy forum somewhere

There is clearly not just one type of player but I accept your mind is set.

Sorry if this was a de-rail Fowler. I would post up some hands like BCB said or pm some of the better SnG players on the forum with some HH's and ask nicely; sure they might just help ya out.

ah no worries kayroo its grand. will post a hand or two in the hh. just found out how talking poker works, so will be able to post now

Ah the lingo takes a while alright but you catch on. Don't be afraid to ask people questions. Believe it or not people tend to react really well to genuine questions. When you are willing to learn and discuss theory then people will generally react well to you.

Gl with improving and read the stickies for some top quality timeless advice.

    What?

Look this is a technical forum, not an opinion based one. You might have some philosophical opinion about poker (and trust me, if you want to take it to another thread so as not to de-rail Fowler's thread I'd be happy to completely dissect that argument for you too) but the simple fact is there are winning players in a minority and losing players in a majority. This is a fact. Arguing against this fact is futile in an arena where winning is determined solely by long term monetary results.

If you want to have a debate on the definition of "winning player" from a life perspective then that's fine but let's leave this thread alone so Fowler can get some advice from the players who make money in the long term so that he might aspire to the same.

just to let u no i am down 500$ on online poker. thats was mostly when the euro was trading at its peak against the dollar so about 300€. i got at least about 3-4 weeks of pure exileration, frustration, jumped around me room for joy, made big calls that made me think i was phil ivey n everything else that i love about poker, most people spend 300€ on a booze weekend, an hour with 2 hookers, or a few grams to powder there nose.. i was never financially crippled by poker and any times i deposited money i was comfortable. who are you to judge me giving me advice to quit poker. i enjoy poker recreationally and always will. you say u havent playd poker since 1993, poker has changed alot since then u were prob playing 5 card draw. im no degenerate gambler i just someone who loves poker and wants to become better at poker, everybody wants to improve at something they enjoy doing. so keep ur opinion to yourself

Don't put up a thread with the title you have used and expect nothing in return, also remember who made the statements you have just made in the form of a denial, which was never asked for in the first place. "Most people" is a nonsense argument, it doesn't have any basis in fact or even, might I say, any where else. In demanding that someone should keep their opinion to themselves you will most likely achieve the opposite result. That could be the subconscious at work.Poker doesn't change.

    Poker doesn't change.

Neither do 40-somethings who are disillusioned with how life turned out and want to shove it down everyone's throat.

The thread he put up was in Poker, not Personal Issues. His intent was to get better at the game. If he wanted the kind of nonsense advice you are offering then he would have posted it there.

Twinks, what are you on? If you think poker is a life wrecking game that grabs and throttles peoples lives then fair enough, but this is really no place for it. This thread has nothing to do with that, so keeping it that way would be ace.

Also, kayroo, stop encouraging him to derail the thread.

yes if u read the post it asked for advice and people to look at my hh not post telling me i have a problem.most people is a fact, i see people do those sort of things every weekend, i hear about it in the news if you dont think these things happen u are livin in a dream world!! ya hardly think 175 million euro worth of coke was coming into irelandn people dont buy it.
however since i am a degenerate gambler according to you ,
i have shutdown all my online gambling accounts, looked up a GA centre near where i live and have a meeting tomorrow and rang me gf to tell her i have a big problem and hav lost 300 euro since june, i feel so relieved as they say breaking through denial is the first step

This has become a lot more interesting than I ever thought it would. The repeated notion that I have you down as a degenerate gambler is as I say a notion, one which I never alluded to.

I'm not to happy about your being relieved of your money

    I'm on a chair.

I'm glad to hear you now have age related problems with other people and that you have noticed that there is quite a bit of nonsense being posted here without any rhyme or reason attached. The illusions are not of my making in this instance.

Also, on reflection,"moist people" have usually just accidentally pissed themselves. Those who choose to do it on purpose can open their own thread.

The idea that none other than the true believer and no one else can comment on a subject that is there for all to peruse is I would think a bit of a naiveity play with an element of tragicomedy strewn in.

The nub of the situation is that I know exactly what gambling is and that knowledge is severely frowned upon, in such a way as to have me running away with my tail between my legs. The choice to go for me in that way is
up to the other posters but by attacking me in what they think is a way that will undermine me it is indicative of a losing hand to start with, the octapusic bluff being best kept to the local seafood emporium.

    Enough of this crap.

Twinksnoflan you are not endearing yourlself to me I must say with this line of crap, even after a warning.

FowlerGrowler, I think this thread long since expired in terms of usefulness. If you want guidance on where you may need to approve, then appropriate strategy threads as advised above by several posters are they way to go.
