    Haven't you started a thread about QALYs before? It's a very specialist area you're looking for information on. Don't be disappointed if you don't get any helpful responses.

    What exactly is it your looking for;
    A strict definition of a QALY?
    The definitions and criteria used by the NHS?(Your at Queens right)
    Theoretical implications?
    Or something else?
    I know a bit about the subject but can't really give you an overview of the entire field of Health Economics in a single posting.
    One thing I will say is do not use term 'lives saved', rather talk in terms of 'deaths postponed', it seems to really get H. economists backs up.....

    See the Article by W. Kip Vercusi in the New Palgrave Dictionary of Economics on QALYS and cost benefit analysis.He was described as the premier authority on the value of life and his calculations are used by the US government.
    Also see the following books;

    QALY-Problems in the nineties by S.R Walker and R Rosser
    Methods for Economic Evaluation of Healthcare
    etc

    would probably suggest reading some Cost Benefit Analysis anyway. Next time look a bit further then wikipedia and boards for info.
