CoD4 - Probably really stupid questions

Hi all, have been playing online now for a bit, and really enjoy it despite having an awful ratio and getting killed so often. I must say, TD or headquarters on the Shipment map is one of the most intense experiences around. probably not as much skill as luck, but still brilliant.

One thing though that is annoying me is about showing up in the opponent radar.

If using a silenced weapon, do you still appear as a red dot on when you fire? I know the tip feature says you don't, but I seem to be hunted down pretty efficiently regardless.

If using an unsilenced weapon, do you not appear until you fire? When the other side calls in the UAV do you appear as a red dot regardless of whether you have fired or not? If not, whats the point of the UAV?

Thanks in advance for any help/advice - It might save me getting pulverised so often.

if you use a silencer you will not show as a red dot when you shoot but will when the enemy radar is on.

If you choose UAV jammer you will not show up when their radar is on.

On the map in question it is very hard to stay hidden for long.

if the enemy uses a uav you will be shown up regadless of using a slencer. The slencer is only useful when the enemy doesn't have a uav. If you shoot your weapon you will not be shown. To go completely undetected from enemy, use the uav jammer. If you have the jammer there is no need for a silencer as you won't be shown even when you fire.

I dont think you're right there. i understood that UAV jammer would hide you from the enemy radar until you shoot. (unless you have a silencer too)

    Apologies if I'm wrong.

Remember that you will be "hunted down" with the Kill Cam.

Also the physics generally work well enough that if a guy in fron of me gets killed, he falls away from the shooter. Easy to follow the track of the bullets flight

Remember that you also get muzzle flash, so people can also see this

That's not True. Jammer only blocks being seen by UAV. If you fire an unsilenced weapon you still appear. Only way for total radar invisibilty is UAV jammer + silenced weapons.

Play HQ to rack up serious points.

That's the problem. HQ makes it easy to get points, but I'm still rubbish. My ratio is shockingly bad, yet I have got to level 41. Maybe its to to go into free for all for a while and see can I improve, especially using some of the setups outlined above.

    It makes it more realistic!

If a guy get shotin the knee, he is not going to be in a fit state to shoot at you with excellent aim. Yet in anything but hardcore, you can be unleashing a clip into a guy while watching him take a pistol, take aim and shoot

At least in Hardcore, he drops after the second/third bullet

When you are online, try to link up with a few lads from here. This allows you to work in pairs and learn the tricks. I have only started doing this now (level 30, 1 prestige) and starting to get double/triple KD in matches

    What prestige level are you?
