Just wondering if anyone could help me.. boyfriends been talking so much about ps3 that when i was recently in uk i bought him fifa09 for ps3 and returned to find out he doesnt even have one he's just raving mad and kepts ranting on about how much he wants to get one, he keeps sayin he's gonna buy one but he hasnt yet. so i was thinkin that could be an easy fix for my xmas present for him!!

but i can't decide where to buy it most places ive seen are €400.00, now ill pay that no problem but just to make it clear i know absolutely nothing about consoles or how much they sould be or even what the best type of one to buy40gb/80gb, so im finding it hard to make a decision on something i know nothing about.

so basically im looking for advice in general and particularly on where to get the best deals bearing in mind i already have the fifa 09 game bought and what kind of one to buy i.e. 40gb/80gb.

    would appreciate the help!

Well certainly you want to get the 80GB model as that includes the Dual Shock 3 and the HDD is obviously larger.

Some of the other boardsies will fill you in on who has the best deals.

    Don't get the 40gig.

The 80gig or the 160gig - there was another thread about this as between the 80 or the 160. The view was that even though there was more memory, it wasn't such a big deal.

The HDD size isn't that important as it can easily be upgraded.

What you are looking for are bundles. The 80GB model comes with a DualShock3 controller, better than the SixAxis controller bundled with the 40GB model.

As for retailer bundles, I have heard HMV and Game do good bundles for good prices, however I don't have that info on me. Ring them up and you can get quotes...

BTW if it doesn't work out between you and the BF.. ;)

That seems like a whole lot of techo garble to the OP.

The hard drive for most people can be of no relevance unless they are actually going to be storing music, videos etc on it. The reason it has a hard drive or HDD is that most games require to install a small percentage on the HDD in order for the game to work. The smaller the hard drive the less of all of those things you can do.

I have version 1 the 80gb version with all the bells and whistles. A lot of those bells and whistles were removed on the cheaper versions like backwards compatability. That simply is being able to play playstation 2 games on the new console.

Has he a PS2? If so maybe consider buying a PS3 with backwards compatability.

€400-450 will pick you up an 80gb with a game, a movie and a blue ray remote. That is the standard offer floating around.

Shop around. Head to Gamestop, Xtravision, Smyths toys, game and HMV and if one is near Zavvi. They all have the newest models and offers out.

If you have a PS2 surely you are better off buying and being happy with the lack of BC in the 80GB.

A ps2 is fairly cheap these days and is what I would ideally use if I want to play my PS2 games (Would you believe?!).

    Personally I wouldn't go near the PS3's browser if I had a PC/laptop

If they do I doubt it would rival firefox/opera/chrome/ie.
