    Hey studio guys,

I was wondering what would be the industry standard if you wanted to record real instruments (brass, piano, violin, **** like that) without the instruments via samples or romplers. I know that the likes of the Nord Stage seems to be the standard for live use but is this used in the studio?

And i mean what is the top one, do ye use software or hardware or would you always get in the real thing to play live?

Just wondering cause i record at home and i want to have brass and **** like that in some tunes and i want it to sound as real as possible but i would have to say i would much prefer something that is hardware but if software is what is used in studios id probably go for that.

Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Nord's good.
Dunno anything that does brass properly except real players. It's really about the arrangement rather than what machine you use.

East / West Quantum Leap Brass is prob as near as you're gonna get with software in my opinion.. but it's pricey.

Here - i've seen these in a lot of studios - that's a solid peice of hardware, and on the software front you can pay 4-7k for a premium soundset orchestra - PM me if you want more details and i'll dig up some links.
