    Hi,
I have stereo system speakers which I am thinking to connect to my PC. Both the speakers have loose end wire. I bought the pc jack and conncted wires into it. Connecting jack to PC didn't do anything. I think I need more then that but have no clue what is involved? Any suggestion please?

    Thanks in Advance

You need some sort of amplifier.

The voltages at the 3.5mm jack for audio output are no way big enough to drive non powered speakers.

Any hi-fi amp should do. The type you use at home. Do you have a mini/midi stereo to listen to the radio or CDs? If it has phono inputs for an external source like a CD player then this will do. You need to get a stereo 3.5mm jack to 2 phono plugs lead to connect the pc to the amp.
An alternative is to get a set of pc speakers with a built in amp but the quality is not as good.
