    hell all
was wondering would anyone have any advice where would be a good reasonably priced course to join that is in or close to cork city. My idea of resonable is around the 600 mark.

    Cheers

    You could try:

    Harbour Point (Closing May09)
    Blarney (For Sale)
    Capella (hotel closed yesterday)
Cobh (no course till 2009, no clubhouse till 2012!)

    Golf in Cork is screwed!

Mahon is a municipal course. Its fine though but just under the quality of some others.
Macroom is €650 and is a good course that is maturing nicely. Lee Valley is around €1100good course though but a bit pricey. Dont know about Muskerry or Bandon golf clubs

Are you able to keep your gui handicap if you join mahon. heard that it does not offer handicaps which makes no sense.

muskerry10,000e lee valley10,000e and blarney10,000e are all around a grand a year after

blarney is a redeemable share, not for the first few years tho and its an ok course clubhouse okish and not much happens is the shop and membership is on the low side around 100

muskerry may be available cheaper than the 10,000 ok course and has a few extra holes to practice on but hilly, not the easiest timesheet to get on and lots of temporary tees and greens in winter, high older membership, not a great shop, not too nice clubhouse in terms of layout but great food.

lee valley very nice course, ok clubhouse and bar, food ok too, around 500 members no prob with time sheet

mahon as far as i know is extremley busy but its a short tidy little course
    mallow as above
    macroom not too bad either

lee valley the pick i'd say ;)

Thanks for the info. Going to try and suss out some of the courses on the list and options for joining. Not in a rush with the weather at the moment its not exactly golf season. looking at mitchelstown website for around 800 but might come down in the new year as the price includes remainder of this year also.

Joined this year, €1500 joining fee (payable in installments) and €650 yearly sub. It will drop next year, I'm waiting to see what they ask me do pay for 2009.

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread but thought this was a suitable place to ask! Does anyone have any idea about the joining fee for Lee Valley these days? There's very little information on their site about memberships. Trying to decide between Lee Valley, Blarney and Macroom to join. Thinking Macroom at the moment as it's by far the cheapest!
