My son (7) is asking for a PSP for Christmas. I had been thinking of getting him a PS3. But he has fixated on the PSP, just like people opinions on it. Thanks.

    Very 'meh'.

The hardware itself is good, but the selection of games isnt anything to get excited about. There arent' nearly as many good games as in the DS library.

I have one myself but only really use it for emulation and playing playstation 1 games. I can see a 7 year old getting bored with it very fast.

    Id recommend a ps3.

Tell him Santa has used all the bits that can make a PSP and he only has parts for a ps3?

PSP is only worth it if you put custom firmware on it.

If its for a 7 year old then get him the PSP. Just get him a few games that he would be interested in and he wont get bored of it

My Seven year old has one, but beware that the PSP dosent like being dropped!

Ive had to replace the PSP 3 times so far in a year, Thankfully everytime its been dropped there hasnt been any cosmetic damage so ive been able to swap the machine under its warranty.

The PS3 has far better graphics than the PSP, plus kids tend to play with the PSP under the bed sheets sneeking extra play time, so unless you take the PSP of them before going to bed be careful they dont sneak a go!

But all said my 7 year old loves his PSP to bits, and you can get some great game bargains on ebay.

I'd say the DS is the much better console but to be perfectly honest you are much better getting him what he wants. Even if it's better for him he will be disappointed if he doesn't get the machine he wants. Anyway the DS maybe better but the PSP is still a fine handheld machine with some grewat games.

    Ah the good old days.

Tbh playing Psp is so 2 years ago. Going on the Internet on psp is where its at.

Then again, that was me until march. iPod touch on boards ftw.

Just buy him a ps3 controller and stick a screen on it. Then make a decent GIF go through it.
