Hey all!! New to this so please be gentle...!!
    Regarding those self-sat systems...
I bought one of those late last year for €260 from N17 in Galway.. No way am i paying a subscripton to N*l or S*y... After 2 hours of cursing and nearly falling off the ladder at one point, got the dish mounted onto an old N*l receiver ariel pole that was bolted to the back of the house.. Works brilliantly for Astra 28.2, and i get all the BBC and ITV regions (Handy for me to keep in touch with what's going on in Scotland, and for "Her indoors" to keep up with bleeding X-Factor..)... Channel4's a bit dodgy sometimes and the whole lot goes t*ts up when it rains.... Overall satisfied with it, but I have a question... I heard that the Irish channels (RTE, TV3, TG4) are going digital next year.. Will i be able to get them on the Selfsat dish and what would i need to do if i get a sat reciever for the bedroom?? Many thanks!!!!!:)

No, Irish channels will be going digital for free on terrestrial broadcasts only. Already available in parts of the country already. RTE is digital on Sky and UPC too, but not free.

I dont think the Selfsat will be much use if you want signals in two rooms. If you want to run another receiver, youd be better with a proper dish and a dual/quad LNB to connect more than 1 receiver.

Sounds like you have a UK DTT (aka FreeVIEW) TV, which only support mpeg-2.

Irish DTT will be the mpeg-4.

It the TV has a cam slot, i think there is an adaptor, there was a discussion in this forum on the matter recently, but since i do not have a relevent TV, or access to irish DTT transmission yet, i did not note it.

I would wait befoer spending money, unless you can find a real cheep box since i would assume they would be cheaper/easier to get once DTT is actually launched.
