    hey gang
    hope yer all well
i have an ipod shuffle, its absolutely fantastic, i play a lot of sport, and the click, the size, and the ease of operation while cycling/gyming/running is absolutely unmatchable.
i use mac os x and xp, im looking for a way of being able to 'DRAG N' DROP' files onto the shuffle, without having to go through ITUNES.

Is there anything out there that will let me do this?

    thanks very much

I dreally appreciate help on this on.

    Ed

I've never had a shuffle but with most other iPods, you can use something like Sharepod on Windows to bypass iTunes:

    http://www.getsharepod.com/

And Senuti to do the same thing on Mac OS X:

    http://fadingred.org/senuti/

I don't see any reason why these would not work with an iPod Shuffle.

Sorry, I think I misread your original post - SharePod on Windows will do what you want but Senuti is only for pulling music off the iPod. What you need on Mac OS X to actually add new music, etc, is Floola:

    http://www.floola.com/modules/wiwimod/

So with that and SharePod (or Floola's Windows edition), you can add music without iTunes.

When you run Floola, select the "Item" menu and "Add" - it will open a box for you to drag and drop stuff to, add anything you want, then click on the "Add" button.

    Apologies for the original confusion.

I dont really see the need to drag and drop outside of itunes to be honest???

What i do with my shuffle is just have a playlist that syncs with it. Then simply "drag" on the music you want, and just hit backspace key to remove songs from that playlist that you don't want.

I think your making an issue out of something that doesn;t exist really. Why do you need "drag and drop"????

Why drag and drop? Both my kids have iPod shuffles. I have a single computer and single account of iTunes. The stupid folks at Apple, in their eternal wisdom, chose not to let multiple ipods work with a single account.
I cannot connect my devices to my machine now without iTunes prompting me "Erase and Sync?"

How would you load new music if you have multiple devices? To add to the complexity, I have an iPhone and iPod video device as well.

The most irritating thing is, once I kill iTunes and treat my shuffle as a regular storage device, I can drag and drop music to the shuffle, but it will never play the newly added music!

My Touch does, with my my 3G 30GB iPod, as does my wife's Mini, all on the one account.

Eh..... I don't know where your getting this "one account" idea from. You can sync multiple devices with a single account. Sure I have an iPhone,iPod touch, 5th gen, and my two shuffles synced with the one account. So where is your problem lying?? Possibly it's with allocating certain music to certain iPods??? The more info you give, the more likely it is your problem can get resolved easily.

As mentioned you can have multiple iPods/iPhones syncing with the same iTunes app/iTunes account. My account syncs with an iPhone, 5gen iPod and 3gen iPod.

If you're having trouble, here's some things to check:

Ensure that all devices have different names (shouldn't matter with different MAC addresses, but you never know.

Ensure that anyone else who uses the devices (brothers, sisters etc) know not to plug it in to any other computers, or if they do it to charge them, that they click No when asked do they want to sync with that other computer.

If syncing DRM'ed songs, you may have reached you 5-device limit.
