Just interested to see what people love competing in the most.

    - Full Marathon
    - Half Marathon
    - 10k run
    - Duathlon (run cycle run)
    - Spring tri
    - Olympic tri
    - Ironman
    - Others?

For me, duathlons like the Phoenix park duathlons (Belpark tri) are my favourite. The 2.5k run, 20k cycle, 2.5k run I find to be a really nice distance. The olympic tri's felt very long (only did one tho and I was slow!).

    Thoughts folks? :)

It ultras for me especially if there is something quirky like with the Lapland Ultra your running all night but the sun never sets. Though with saying that I have enjoyed runs like the yearly BUPA 10k or the Port Tunnel 10k a few years ago.

It's Hill Running for me. After training for the Dublin Marathon for the last few months I really enjoyed getting back to the hills last weekend. Unfortunately i have to wait till after Christmass for the IMRA winter league to start again.

I'm with Odysseus, I enjoy ultramarathons more than other events. And just like Odysseus, if there is something a little special about them all the better. 24 hours on a track or endless laps around city streets isn't so much fun :-)

I enjoy the challenge of marathons. I enjoy more the taking part in the likes of hill races which give the benefit of a race in a great and often unique setting.

I'm not fussy but I did really enjoy the 2 Dublin Duathlons Series races I competed in this Summer. Great atmosphere and well organised as tunney says. A superb way to spend a Wednesday evening!

Anything up to a half marathon is fun, once I get into marathon territory it starts to hurt too much to be fun anymore. Unfortunately I have to do a few more marathons yet inorder to beat the time some of the rest of the family have done years ago, once I've done that though I'll stick to shorter distances.

my favorite is 10 mile races, for me its a nice distance and i can finish in a respectable time. The 10 mile series in Munster at the start of the year is great, Also i did my first Cork to Cobh race this year adn that was hands down teh best race of the year for me.

Hi, Ive been running for quite some time, but never in a seirous way. For the last couple of months (recently unemployed) ive been running a lot more than I have in the past. I now find myself fairly fit and looking for a challange, are there any events comming up in the south east,10k or half marathon? I've been looking everywhere but no joy. Even an athletics club in Kilkenny area where I mite find a training group, I am currently doing about 30-40k per week, my longest single run has been a 20k. Would love to do a marathon someday but i am 36 now and if i can find a job then running mite have to take a back seat. Am i doing enough training for a marathon? I realise im asking a lot of questions but i realy need help.....please!

    Hello Baba.....

If you have time to spare at the moment . I know the West Waterford AC is holding a winter league and there also might be a winter league being held in Carrick on Suir. Hope this helps!
