to start it I have some shots I made by pure chance in St Stephen Green when the lads were killing the nerves a bit with a ball
I had only 2 minutes and they were gone, I couldn't even up the ISO to freeze a bit more the action

Well, it was not very enjoyable. However I can't wait to see pictures from lads here.

i like the 2nd one , unfortunatly he had another bad day in the green - maybe others are a bit sick of another "nearly/tried hard could do better" performance - the league team put up a better fight down under - although Luke F played well

Are there the same restrictions on use/publication of images from today's game, i.e. for editorial use only as in place last week in Thomond Park?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,200 ✭✭✭kensutz

Yes, due to strict licensing laws we're not allowed post them anywhere.

    Even on your own website?
Why is this game diff to others?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,741 ✭✭✭✭thebaz

Guilmore - not sure if you were looking for c & c , but for me if you cropped the leggs a bit tighter on the 2nd , it would be even better - nice one

They're the same rules as last week. Only for editorial use which mine are.

    Thanks Barry
    C&C is always welcomed
are you talking about something like this?

    DS3_8597short.jpg

what rules prevent anyone from publishing pictures? or is it just to photographers commisioned to take "official" pictures during the match

did no one else took any picture for themselves?

I'm still waiting for some fairy godmother to get me tickets to follow my pumas on saturday, I can't afford 85 quid this time (a bit OTT for a friendly match in such a stadium IMO)

The rules and regulations for official photographers are something we need to abide by. We sign a contract and it's something we don't want to breach and jeopardise our chances in the future. I think I'm the only person out of the regulars that was at the match last night.

@dreamer: I may be able to post some on Tuesday night.

Guilmore , i'd ctop it just under the ball - but thas just me ;) - its ROG's expression and arm movement that makes this image work for me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,037 ✭✭✭quilmore

    I'm such a coward when cropping... :o

    BTW, barry: it's "Quilmore"

That's a nice crop and a good image of ROG.

Shame I missed the match yesterday, but was over in Amsterdam. Looking forward to next Saturday now, and Wed too.

I took some photos yesterday from way up on the Hogan Stand, actually more like the Davin Stand but I suppose you have to pay more for being in the "Hogan Stand".

I uploaded some on pix.ie, they're couldn't be called brillant but they give a taste of what the official photgraphers would have got, if they could share them :(

We weren't allowed get a squad shot because the band blocked our views of the players.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,067 ✭✭✭AnimalRights

So you were an official photographer but the IRFU use their own too to sell their rights EXCLUSIVELY?
It all boils down to money like?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,200 ✭✭✭kensutz

Dan Sheridan is appointed to take specific photos. He's a good chap and his work is extremely good.

No shocks there tbh... At least we haven't reached the newest fad in the states - Turning 'togs into walking billboards :)

Oh there's a lot worse than that going on in US sports photography. Some of it is just pathetic. In some cases, photographers have to pay schools/colleges/clubs with a percentage of their sales.

    Sad.

Yes, in many cases, it is down to rights, access and money. Getting access to get photographic press access doesn't give all access. But, it's still a nice place to be.

    Cheers for the lowdown lads.

Weren't allowed or just poor positioning of the team?

I can't speak for that match, but from experience - weren't allowed.

Photographers, in general, are not allowed on the pitch and there are cordoned areas where you can go. If the team is positioned (intentionally) behind the band, then this would be done to give exclusive access to a designated photographer (Dan Sheridan).
