buying prescription cat food online

anyone know if you can buy prescription cat food online? my furry feline needs Hills W/d to control his weight but also kidney stones. Its costing a fortune via the vet. Whilst I would love to support them more financially, its not a cheap vet we attend, and I am already spending much hard earned cash there between puss and the three dogs!

would be great if I could buy online. Anyone know of anywhere you can get it at reasonable prices? or any prescription diet in fact - I'm sure he won't mind a change of brand once it does the job properly!

    thanks!

I order my cat/dog food from www.zooplus.ie. Large selection and excellent service!
    Hope this helps.

thanks for that Valerie but their prescription cat food range is considerably more expensive than the vet! I usually get 5kg bag for around €20, the cheapest on the site suitable for my cat is €16.45 for 1.75kg!

    Anyone else got any suggestions?

I may be wrong on this but I believe you can't buy prescription food online without a prescription? If that's the case then you probably won't get it from any of the main petfood retailers online (as they won't have the right credentials to buy it in).

If that's the case you'll need to order from a vet online and the only one I know of is Duggan Vets who might be able to help (I get Sasha's Blend from them). You'll need to email them to ask though and I'd imagine it's going to cost pretty much the same from the likes of them as from the vets themselves.

no you can buy 'prescription' online, and I know of some UK sites that do it, but I was hoping someone might know of an Irish site or one that will ship to Ireland without charging an arm and a leg. Its not 'prescription' in the sense of what we think of in human terms, its a prescribed diet, i.e a specific sort of food recommended by the vet, its not actually a prescription. some retailers also carry hills, IAMS but they charge the same as the vet. My friend in the UK buys her food online and saves about 35% even after shipping costs.
